Adult Therapy Services
Even though my primary area of specialty is teens and families, I also enjoy working with adults and continue to work with adults of many ages on a number of issues. Some adults assume that I work only with teenagers but if you are an adult and you are in need of some quality one on one counseling services, I hope you will give me a call for a consultation. Adults can often be notorious for putting their needs behind the needs of others, such as children but I believe that it’s important for them to understand that their children are likely to be happier and healthier when their parents engage in their own self-care. Healthy adults raise healthy children. I focus on being a “rubber meets the road” kind of therapist. I focus on tools and skills. My goal is for my clients to learn strategies so that when they leave they have some positive alternatives to explore. I work with my clients to build on the principle that if you want a different result in life you must change what you do first.
I have experience working with adults on some of the following issues and problems:
- Addiction and Substance Abuse
- Phase of Life Issues/Mid-life Crisis Issues/Personal Identity Issues
- Depression/Self-esteem
- Suicide
- Anxiety/Panic/Excessive Worry
- High conflict Divorce and Custody Issues
- Trauma
- Grief and Loss
I utilize tools and skills from various therapy modalities including:
- Cognitive Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Person Centered Therapy
- Life Span Integration
- Socratic Questioning
